FAVORITE PLACE TO SEE A PLAY

I have been going to that museum since I was a baby. I know each piece in the permanent collection as if it were my friend. The building and location are so beautiful. I would cut class in [George Washington] high school just to sit in the galleries and soak up the art and atmosphere.

They are hard to miss: The whole staircase is covered in a beautiful mosaic and shimmers in the sunlight (whenever that neighborhood gets any). It is truly a gorgeous work of art.
FAVORITE PLACE TO SEE DANCE
The Cowell Theater
WHERE: Fort Mason, in the Herbst Pavilion
WHAT: Nice size and layout; not too big

I like the size and the layout. I like the way the seats are spaced out.
FAVORITE PLACE TO SEE A FILM
School of the Arts Auditorium
WHERE: 555 Portola Drive, at O’Shaughnessy Boulevard
WHAT: Media night film debuts of the high school students
INFO: (415) 695-5700 or www.sfsota.org
Where my son’s films and those of his illustrious classmates have premiered to crowds of screaming teenagers and their families. In the four years that my older son attended that school, in the film department I had the pleasure of helping to run the media night film debuts of the students. I was always struck by the superb work that the students put out. It gives me great hope for the world of cinema.
WHERE: 757 Monterey Blvd., between Gennessee Street and Ridgewood Avenue
WHAT: Small neighborhood restaurant, lovely ambiance, great food, welcoming owner and staff
INFO: (415) 333-8500 or www.kskitchen-sf.com
A small neighborhood Japanese restaurant, lovely ambiance, great food, and the owner and staff are very welcoming and friendly. I think the neighborhood is still in shock that a restaurant of such high quality exists within our humble midst.
