Muni fare inspector attacked in the line of duty

A Muni fare inspector was assaulted while writing a citation on Thursday, police said.

The female employee with the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency was struck by the male suspect just after 11 a.m. at Mission Street and Silver Avenue, police said.

When cops responded, they saw two fare inspectors, including the one who was assaulted, holding the suspect down. He was struggling to break free, they said.

The suspect was cited and released for battery, police said.
