Three suspects fleeing police after a shooting in the Mission district early Thursday made it all the way to the Candlestick Park exit before their car crashed, police said, but one of them managed to escape.

Police were reportedly nearby when gunfire erupted at Mission and 19th streets at about 2 a.m. Officers even saw shots coming from a vehicle, police said.

The officers found a 33-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. He was transported to the hospital while other units chased after a white sedan.

The California Highway Patrol joined the chase as the vehicle carrying three suspects, two men and a woman, continued southbound on U.S. Highway 101, police said. About 10 minutes after the Mission shooting, police said, the vehicle crashed.

A man and woman whose identities have not yet been released were taken into custody. The third managed to escape the vehicle and remains outstanding, police said at about 8 this morning.
