Missing sewer covers could be costly

San Francisco property owners could face fines or lawsuits for not replacing missing sewer vent covers in front of their lots, as they are a tripping hazard for pedestrians and garbage collectors, The City said.

The San Francisco Department of Public Works used its Twitter account Thursday to warn property owners about the missing vents spotted around The City.

"When complaints about unsafe sidewalks are made, an inspector from the Street Inspection Division will inspect and possibly issue a Notice to Repair, giving 30 days to the property owner to make the repairs," the agency said.

In case you were unsure of the law, DPW said property owners can read all about it in the public works code.
