The search for a missing Richmond District man ended March 6 when authorities found his body in a wooded area of Land’s End, according to San Francisco Police.
Kenneth Chin, 73, was first reported missing from his residential care home Feb. 24 after he wandered from a bus he was let off of.
Chin reportedly suffered from dementia and schizophrenia. Because of his illness, officers “conducted round the clock searches and aggressively followed up on leads to his whereabouts,” San Francisco Police Capt. Richard Corriea said in the Richmond district newsletter.
Chin’s body was found March 7 in a wood area near Land’s End, behind the Veteran’s hospital, Officer Eric Chiang said.
The exact cause of death is pending, according to the San Francisco Medical Examiner’s office.
Chiang said the time Chin was reported missing San Francisco was expecting snow. The elements may have played a part in his death.
