'Miss Representation' representing at Sundance

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s not the only person in his family moving up in the world.

About a month after Newsom is minted the state’s new lieutenant governor, his wife, actress and director Jennifer Siebel Newsom, will be heading to Utah to see her film shown at the Sundance Film Festival.

While her husband has toiled away at the business of running a city, Siebel Newsom has been toiling away at her directorial debut, “Miss Representation.” The film has been accepted into the famed Sundance Film Festival and will be competing against 15 other films in the documentary category.

The documentary discusses mainstream media’s portrayal of women, and how that contributes to a lack of women in leadership positions in America.

Perhaps the Board of Supervisors should take a cue  as they consider who to replace her husband with in City Hall.
