A miniature pinscher was stolen during an aggressive burglary Monday inside a residential hotel in the 1000 block of Mission Street, near Seventh Street, police said.

A 34-year-old woman called police about 9:30 a.m. saying a 32-year-old woman kicked down her door, grabbed the pooch and fled, Officer Albie Esparza said.

"The victim was in her room, heard the suspect come to the door and demand to be let in, and all of a sudden the door was smashed in," Esparza said.

Nothing else was taken but the dog. A motive for the heist wasn't clear, Esparza added. He added that the victim knows the suspect. An arrest hadn't been made as of Tuesday.
