Meters shut off Saturday for holiday

Motorists in San Francisco will get an extra day of free parking this weekend, due to the New Year’s holiday.

Following the same holiday guidelines it employed for Christmas, the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency, which manages parking operations in The City, will shut off nearly all parking meters on city streets. It will also not enforce residential permit, street sweeping or commute lanes restrictions.

Parking meters on Port of San Francisco property, which are enforced 365 days a year, will be operating on Saturday.
