The program allows bicycle owners to record their bike’s identifying information in a secure database managed by the Police Department. In the event of a bike theft, police will add the identifying serial number to a statewide database of stolen property.
If the bike is recovered anywhere in the state, it can be identified and returned to the owner.
There is no cost to participate in the registration program, police said.
The registration information will not be shared with any businesses.
More information on joining the bicycle registry can be found on the Police Department’s website at www.menloparkpolice.org.
Any questions about the registry program can be directed to Community Service Officer Gonee Sepulveda at (650) 330-6300.
