Melissa Etheridge had some puzzling things to say about Angelina Jolie’s choice to have a double mastectomy in order to avoid getting breast cancer. While the rest of the world has praised Jolie and called her “brave,” Etheridge begs to differ.
“I wouldn’t call it a brave choice,” she told Washington Blade. “I actually think it’s the most fearful choice you can make when confronting anything with cancer.”
But who says there’s no fear in bravery? Etheridge says she carries the same gene as Jolie, and she went through five rounds of chemo to fight her own breast cancer back in 2005.
“I really encourage people to go a lot longer and further before coming to that conclusion,” Etheridge says. Duly noted.
