On Friday, the Film Commission meets at 9:30 a.m. at City Hall in Room 400, and is expected to hold a closed session and ultimately vote to recommend a candidate for the film director slot for Mayor Gavin Newsom to appoint.
The commission had met in closed session July 26 but failed to forward any candidates for Newsom to consider. A meeting set for Aug. 12 was canceled due to lack of a quorum. The commission’s next meeting was scheduled for Sept. 27. But apparently an earlier meeting has been called to get the show on the road, so to speak.
It’s been months since the Film Commission’s Executive Director Stefanie Coyote resigned from the post.
The film director’s duties include luring productions to San Francisco and ensuring filming of commercials and movies go smoothly in The City.
