Mayor offers condolences for deceased educator and activist 

Mayor Gavin Newsom expressed his sympathy after hearing about of the passing of Luisa Ezquerro, a lifelong educator, activist, leader and mentor who spent her life serving her San Francisco community.

Luisa taught for 43 years in the San Francisco Unified School District and was a longtime community activist, helping to found the Mission Coalition Organization, the mayor said.

“On behalf of the city and county of San Francisco, I honor Luisa’s life and legacy and am grateful for all Luisa has done for the people of San Francisco,” Newsom said. “My condolences go out to the Ezquerro family during this difficult time.”
