Man's hand was bloody proof

The crook was caught red-handed — literally.

Cops searching a suspected car burglar at Post and Polk streets Tuesday knew he was up to no good. After all, a car they saw him leaning on had a broken window. The proof he was responsible soon became clear.

While placing the suspect’s hand behind his back, the cop discovered that the hand was soaked in blood, cops said.

“The subject had a laceration on his hand due to the fact he had just broken the window of the car,” police said.

He was transported to a local hospital and stitched up, police said. A search uncovered a butterfly knife on the suspect with a 5-inch blade. The burglar was also on active probation, police said.

He was booked into county jail after being released from the hospital, police said.
