More than 20 years ago, a man who dared Pedro Mata Guizar to pull the trigger ended up dead.
On Tuesday, a parole board may dare to release Guizar from prison.
Guizar, now 61, is serving 15 years to life at the California State Prison in Solano after pumping four bullets into a man who had mocked him during a game of dice on Oct. 20, 1983, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said.
The victim mocked him for losing at Danny’s Bar in East Palo Alto, so Guizar had his girlfriend fetch his gun from his house. The victim then dared Guizar to shoot him. Guizar did not require a double-dare.
Guizar’s parole hearing is scheduled to be held at the Solano prison at 1:30 p.m.
