Man tells police he was attacked because of drug dispute

A man pistol-whipped in the Sunnydale housing projects Tuesday admitted that he angered a drug dealer by saying he was going elsewhere for cocaine, San Francisco police said.

The assault occurred in the unit block of Brookdale Avenue around 10:30 p.m., police at Ingleside Station said Friday.

The injured victim changed his story to cops several times, police said. He eventually came clean about going to the Brookdale area to buy cocaine from two suspects.

The dealers became enraged when the victim climbed into their car, drank alcohol with them, and then declared that he wasn’t buying, police said.

The dealers pulled the victim out of the vehicle, punching him several times and then struck him with the handgun.

There have been no arrests.
