A man who may have been suffering from dry skin stole lotion from a store in downtown San Francisco on Monday, then assaulted the employee who tried to stop him, police said.

The suspect walked into the store in the 500 block of Market Street about 9:40 a.m. and pilfered the lotion, police said. An employee asked him to either pay for it or put it back.

The suspect refused and instead punched the employee in the chest, police said, before fleeing. The employee was not seriously injured.

No arrest has been made.
