  • A man was stabbed after being jumped in the South of Market area on Saturday.

A man sticking up for his brother in the South of Market area was jumped by eight thugs and then stabbed on Saturday, police said.

The 33-year-old victim and his brother were walking to their car in the 1500 block of Mission Street just before midnight, police said, when a male suspect punched his brother in the head.

The victim yelled at the suspect and then another suspect punched him in the head. Then, eight other male suspects jumped the victim, knocking him to the ground on his stomach, police said. One of the thugs then stabbed the victim in the back before they all fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening. No arrests have been made.
