Man slashed with letter opener in Western Addition during pot purchase 

A man was slashed with a letter opener in the Western Addition early Monday morning, police said.

The 30-year-old victim was in the vicinity of Eddy and Steiner streets about 8:55 a.m. when two men in their 20s approached and offered to sell the victim marijuana, police said.

The victim said yes but prior to the transaction one of the men slashed the victim's arm with the letter opener, police said. Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.

The victim's injury was not life threatening, but he was taken to the hospital for treatment. No arrests have been made.
