Man narrowly avoids being struck in Bayview shooting 

A man sitting in his car in the Bayview on Wednesday night narrowly avoided being struck by gunfire, police said.

The victim was sitting in his car at Cameron and Nichols ways about 11:33 p.m. when an armed suspect stepped out of a silver van and walked over to the victim's car and opened fire, police said, before fleeing the scene on foot.

The victim was not struck by the gunfire, police said. There was little detailed description of the suspect Thursday.
