The man killed in a shooting in the Bayview on Monday night has been identified by the medical examiner's offices as 26-year-old San Francisco resident Eddie Ard.

Ard was reportedly driving on Ingalls Street near Egbert Avenue about 5 p.m. when another vehicle drove up along side of him, police said.

Witnesses told police they heard multiple gunshots and saw the suspect vehicle flee the scene at a high rate of speed.

Ard was found in his car suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, police Officer Gordon Shyy said. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

According to police, it was San Francisco's fifth homicide of 2014.

Police had no suspect description Tuesday morning but they did say the suspect vehicle was a black 4-door vehicle.
