Man injured in Polk Gulch stabbing

A man was injured in a stabbing in Polk Gulch on Saturday, police Officer Albie Esparza said.

The 30-year-old victim was reportedly involved in an altercation with another man at Post and Polk streets just after 1 a.m. During the altercation, the victim was stabbed and slashed several times in the torso, Esparza said.

The victim was hospitalized with injuries at the time considered to be life threatening. As of Monday morning, his condition was upgraded to noncritical.

The suspect fled the area on foot and he was described by witnesses to police as a man aged 20 to 30, 6-feet tall, weighing about 175 pounds and was wearing a black jacket, dark colored jeans and black gloves, Esparza said. He was last seen walking eastbound on Post Street toward Larkin Street
