Man arrested in one of two Bayview shootings

An Antioch man was arrested in a shooting that critically injured another man in the Bayview on Tuesday night, in the first of two shootings within three hours and six blocks of each other, police said.

About 7:40 p.m., police responded to the 1500 block of Revere Avenue and located the 25-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the torso area, police Officer Gordon Shyy said.

According to witnesses, a 4-door black sedan had driven up to the victim and a man in his 20s got out and shot the victim multiple times before fleeing the scene, police said. The victim was taken to the hospital and as of Tuesday night was in critical condition.

Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle, which attempted to evade them at Newhall Street and La Salle Avenue.

The suspect got out of the car at Barneveld Avenue and Industrial Street and tried to flee the scene on foot, Shyy said. He was apprehended on Dorman Avenue and arrested. A firearm was recovered in the car.

He was identified as 24-year-old Antioch resident Alfonzo Beasley, Shyy said. He was booked on multiple charges including but not limited to attempted homicide, carrying a concealed firearm, prohibited from possessing a firearm, evading police, resisting arrest, hit and run and a probation violation.

There are three other suspects that are outstanding in this shooting.

About three hours later, a 26-year-old man was wounded by a gunshot as he walked out of his residence in the 1100 block of Palou Avenue, Shyy said. He was struck in the leg and taken to the hospital. His injury was not considered life threatening.

The suspect in that shooting is unknown but is believed to have been in a white 4-door vehicle, police said.

As of Wednesday morning, police could not say if these shootings were related or not.

Anyone with information on either of these incidents is encouraged to call police at (415) 575-4444 or text at TIP411 with "SFPD" at the beginning of the message.
