Man arrested in Half Moon Bay stabbing

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Office announced an arrest over the weekend in connection with a stabbing at the Strawflower Shopping Center in Half Moon Bay on Thursday.

Francisco Miramontes, 20, of Half Moon Bay, was arrested and booked Thursday on charges of assault with a deadly weapon and participation in a criminal street gang, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The incident unfolded about 1:39 p.m. when deputies arrived to the parking lot of the shopping center on reports of a stabbing. Officers located an adult male victim who had been stabbed in the arm.

The victim told the deputies that he had been sitting in his truck when the suspect in the stabbing reportedly said something gang-related to him before stabbing him in the arm and running away from the parking lot.

The victim, who is not believed to be associated with any gang, was taken to the hospital for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

The deputies' investigation led them to Miramontes. He was located at his residence that day about 5 p.m. and arrested.

He was booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility in Redwood City.
