A San Bruno man accused of fatally striking a pedestrian in Pacifica on Sunday pleaded not guilty Tuesday afternoon to charges that include driving under the influence, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.
Leopoldo Tobilla, 57, was arrested after he allegedly drove up to police at Sharp Park Road and Skyline Boulevard and admitted to hitting someone walking in the roadway, police said.
Pacifica police and the California Highway Patrol were conducting an investigation in the area after Scott Garrigan was found dead near the road at about 1:35 a.m.
Tobilla was charged with felony hit and run and misdemeanor DUI, and pleaded not guilty to both charges Tuesday afternoon, Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti said.
He is scheduled to be back in court April 7, Guidotti said.
Tobilla remains in custody on $50,000 bail.
