Christmas meals: Glide hosts its Christmas celebrations (9 and 11 a.m.), followed by dinner (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) for thousands of homeless and needy families and individuals. Breakfast (7 to 8:30 a.m.) leads things off.  [330 Ellis St., S.F.]

Circus cabaret: Sweet Can presents “Mittens and Mistletoe,” a winter cabaret directed by the clown duo Coventry & Kaluza and starring local circus artists. [2 and 4 p.m., Dance Mission Theater, 3316 24th St., S.F.]

Oy luck club: “Kung Pao Kosher Comedy” presents Jewish comedy on Christmas in a Chinese restaurant. Elayne Boosler headlines the event this year. [5 and 8:30 p.m., New Asia Restaurant, 772 Pacific Ave., S.F.]

Museums

Free day: The Contemporary Jewish Museum hosts Community Free Day activities. Attractions include the exhibit “Houdini: Art and Magic” and magic-related events. [11 a.m. to 4 p.m., 736 Mission St., S.F.]

Animal world

Meet the reindeer: Holiday attractions at the San Francisco Zoo include a Reindeer Romp. Guests can meet four reindeer and learn about these creatures of the north. [10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 1 Zoo Road, S.F.]

Sports and recreation

Ice rinks: Skating is happening at the Embarcadero and Union Square rinks. Sessions (90 minutes) start on every even hour. [Embarcadero: 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Justin Herman Plaza, 1 Market St., S.F.; Union Square: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., Powell and Post streets, S.F.]

Parks

Plant life: The San Francisco Botanical Garden is open on Christmas Day, and admission is free. More than

Dining out

Cliff House: The restaurant’s Champagne brunch buffet ($59; $29.50 for children under 12) is available today. Entrees include poached salmon and prawns, steak with mushrooms, and pasta carbonara. Traditional breakfast items, salads, cheese, fruit, smoked salmon with bagels, pastries and desserts round out the menu. Also at the Cliff House: breakfast and lunch in the Bistro.
