Flights trying to land at San Francisco International Airport Sunday afternoon are having a difficult time, causing major delays on some flights.

According to the Federal Aviation Administration’s air traffic control command center, some arriving flights are seeing delays up to 1 hour and 7 minutes because of a “low cloud ceiling.”

San Francisco did see rain for most of the morning, according to the National Weather Service. But precipitation should taper off in the afternoon and fog should creep into The City Sunday night.

Airport officials are warning travelers to check the status of their flight before heading to the airport. The delayed arrivals are also causing delays in plane departures.
