Lowell junior Travis Hom drained a three-point bucket with 2:25 remaining, which all but sealed championship honors Friday at Jefferson’s annual Blue and Gold Tournament.
Hom scored a team-high 22 points and brought home tourney MVP honors in leading the Lowell boys’ basketball team to a 54-50 win over host Jefferson.
"I felt like that [shot] kind of closed it," Hom said. "It was a big shot. I got an open look and knocked it down. After that, we had the momentum."
All-tourney forward Arthur Jones turned in the play of the game to start the fourth quarter, when the senior got up to block a shot, gathered the loose ball and drove the length of the court with a touch from Hom for the assist.
Daniel Cannon and Jorge Camacho each had 13 points and the host Crusaders (2-0) held Kennedy scoreless in the fourth quarter to win going away in the Crusader Classic.
