Locked up: Florida reporter shoved into closet at vice president’s fundraiser

WHAT: A Florida political reporter complained that he was told to stand in a small storage closet to wait for the arrival of Vice President Joe Biden at a $500-a-head fundraiser dinner — and ended up waiting there for 75 minutes.

HOW IT HAPPENED: The reporter, Scott Powers of the Orlando Sentinel, said he was asked to wait in the closet to prevent him from interacting with guests, and was brought out only when Biden made a speech. He was offered food and access to a bathroom, but every time he stuck his head out of the closet, staffers told him to stay inside.

WHY IT HAPPENED: Biden staff members offered an apology, saying it was standard to ask pool reporters to wait in another room during such events, but that it "should not be a storage room."
