Lindsay Lohan really wants to prove she is innocent. The actress, who pleaded not guilty to felony grand theft charges Wednesday, offered to take a lie-detector test to show she did not purloin a $2,500 necklace from a Los Angeles jewelry store, TMZ reported.
Lindsay insisted she thought the necklace was a loaner, and her stylist was responsible for returning it — and there are reportedly reasons to believe her defense team can establish reasonable doubt.
The police report filed by the jeweler allegedly contains inconsistencies. For instance, once she claimed "the surveillance video revealed that as [the store owner] was talking to Lindsay’s male friend, Lohan reached up to her neck area with both hands, removed the store necklace, and placed it inside her black Chanel bag." Yet the next day, the owner said LiLo was wearing the necklace when she left the store. (She claimed she changed her mind after a second look at surveillance video.)
Well, a jury will have to decide whom to believe.
Wentz separate ways
Though Ashlee Simpson insiders told TMZ Pete Wentz’s "erratic" behavior was why she filed for divorce, other reports claim the estranged spouses were on the same page regarding their surprise split.
"It’s very amicable. They’re on very friendly terms and speaking. It’s fine," an insider told People magazine. "They’ve just grown apart. They’ve been growing apart for quite some time."
The singer-actress and the rocker had been married 2½ years and are parents to son Bronx, 2. The trio were snapped by Radar Online looking like a happy family just two days before the split. And according to TMZ sources, up until the end, Pete was trying hard to talk his wife out of filing papers.
"They’re both really sad," the People source said. "It’s a sad ending to something that was really promising. They’re each trying to figure out what this transition is going to be like."
Have things already gone south between supercute couple Amanda Seyfried and Ryan Phillippe? The toothsome twosome, who have been dating since they met at a Halloween bash, seemed to have a spat at a party for "The King’s Speech" in Los Angeles on Monday, Page Six reported.
"The two had a private conversation that seemed a little heated, and both walked away and spent the rest of the evening with separate groups of friends," a source said. "Amanda seemed upset at first, then sat with Renée Zellweger, and left early on her own."
Well, every couple fights! Maybe they were just having a typical tiff about, say, who is more blond and more attractive.
Charlie: Pay pal
Charlie Sheen is not known for doing the right thing — which is kind of like saying double bacon cheeseburgers are not known for being health food. But the troubled actor is reportedly at least sticking up for the "Two and a Half Men" crew, whose jobs he put on hold.
TMZ reported the star is unhappy that the show’s crew is not being paid while he cools his heels in home "rehab." So he has offered to pitch in one-third of their pay if CBS and Warner Bros., the network and production company, split the balance.
Charlie might be wise to just man up and pay the whole amount. Otherwise, we are guessing when the show does resume filming, he will be the recipient of some pretty unflattering camera angles and bad lighting.
