Kudos: Half Moon Bay seeks artists for pumpkin festival poster

Charlie Brown and Linus would be pleased. There won’t be just one Great Pumpkin at this year’s Half Moon Bay Art & Pumpkin Festival on Oct. 18-19, but several. Organizers of the event in the world pumpkin capital are calling for entries for the third annual Poster Design Contest, which kicks off now and has a Sept. 15 deadline.

Sponsored by the Coastal Arts League, the contest is open to graphic artists and designers from across the country and features prizes for the winning entries — $250 for third place and “people’s choice,” $500 for second and $1,000 for first.

The first place winner’s design will be included on the promotional material for the 2009 festival.

Describing previous years’ submissions, contest chair Shirley Kellicut says, “We’ve been thrilled with both the quality and number of entries.”

Accepted entries also will be on display during an October show at the Coastal Arts League Gallery, 300 Main St. For details, call (650) 726-9533 or visit www.coastalartsleague.com/PumpkinPoster.
