Long gone are the days when an artist would simply release a new single, and cast its fate to the radio-programming wind.

When you’ve reached the stellar heights of sugar-pop phenomenon Katy Perry, it’s a whole new, carefully choreographed ballgame.

That’s what happens when you score five consecutive No. 1 smashes from a single album, her double-platinum sophomore effort “Teenage Dream.”

In the entire 53-year history of the Hot 100 chart, she’s the second artist — and first female act — to achieve this feat.

Ergo, she’s not just randomly tossing out her new sixth “Teenage” single/video “The One That Got Away” — she’s premiering the Floria Sigismondi-directed clip on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” this Friday. After which said video will be posted for all fans to see at www.ellentv.com and Vevo.

Additionally, a seven-minute extended version will be shown during upcoming advance screenings of the Weinstein Company’s new Michelle Williams vehicle “My Week With Marilyn” (which opens Nov, 23). And if all this doesn’t get the song across, Perry will most likely give us a spirited, carefully choreographed live version at Oakland’s Oracle Arena on Nov. 21.
