Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ salary boosts sobriety

Well, that’s one way to do it: Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ paycheck for the new TV show “Dracula” reportedly was held until filming ended to ensure his sobriety on the set.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, NBC hired him on the condition that he accept a modest per diem payment and a lump sum after all 10 episodes were completed.

The actor has been in and out of rehab. His tippling allegedly affected his work on “The Tudors,” in which his performance as Henry VIII often was over the top and campy.

His work as the Count has been more reined in, so maybe that’s why it’s getting good ratings.
