Examiner Sunday Reflection contributor Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit fame reports that the photoshopped illustration below is generating death threats to him and others.
This is the latest evidence in a clear pattern of attempts by those on the Left either to stifle criticism before it can be uttered (Reviving the FCC's Fairness Doctrine, the FTC's "Reinventing Journalism" blueprint) or to suppress it after it breaks out into the public debate (far too many examples to mention in recent years).
Which raises an interesting question: Could it be that, rather than regularly succumbing to the perennial temptation of totalitarianism, the delicate sensibilities of our American lefties are simply too fragile to bear the pain of disagreement from those they perceive to be their intellectual inferiors?
(Not familiar with the term "jackwagons" in the headline? Go here.)
UPDATE: A little more precision about Reynolds, please
Just got home from church and read Glenn Reynolds' gentle correction that the death threats he has received were not specifically in response to the Sun King Obama illustration. "But your point still holds," Glenn said.
Of course, having re-posted the illustration above, Glenn may have received new threats since his email to me earlier this morning. Or maybe not. In any case, I would think very carefully before making death threats against anybody who knows their way around the main focus of this.
