A man using illegal fireworks was to blame for starting a brush fire in the Marin Headlands on Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Park Service.
At 2:45 p.m., firefighters from Marin County and the Park Service responded to reports of fire on Slacker Hill near Conzelman Road in the Marin Headlands region of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, spokeswoman Alexandra Picavet said.
The blaze was reported by a GGNRA visitor and quickly contained by firefighters, Picavet said.
About one-half of an acre was burned and no one was injured.
A 40-year-old San Francisco man was taken into custody and booked into Marin County jail on multiple charges including arson, Picavet said.
Parks officials reminded the public that fireworks are illegal throughout the GGNRA, and anyone reporting a fire or the use of fireworks should call 911.
