  • The House of Babes hosts its post-Dyke March gathering, which is queer hip-hop focused, at Public Works for the second year.
San Francisco Pride attendees thirsty and hoarse from Saturday’s Dyke March will revel at the House of Babes’ special Dyke March After Party with DJ Lisa De Lux, Cakes Da Killa and the West Coast debut of hip-hop diva JunglePussy.

Starting at 7 p.m. Saturday at Public Works, the year-old, queer, hip-hop-focused party crew House of Babes decks out three areas of the Mission cul-de-sac, offering the biggest, longest-running, most fresh after-party of the weekend — not like anyone is judging.

“We have the largest area for queer folks to gather in Saturday night,” says House of Babes co-founder, producer and San Francisco resident Leah Perloff. “And people are going to be climbing up the walls.”

Perloff helped throw Stay Gold parties for seven years before co-founding House of Babes last year with resident davO (Swagger like Us, Double Duchess).

The Dyke March After Party marks the House of Babes’ second year hosting the event at Public Works, a spot close to the center of Pride action at Dolores Park and perfectly timed to cater to after-partiers of the lesbian-led gathering.

“We’re giving people a place to go immediately after. ... Last year was amazing,” Perloff says. “We had all three areas filled. People came early. They stayed late. We’re anticipating the same thing.”

House of Babes GoGo Dancers grace two dance floors, four bars and the huge outdoor area, while resident DJs Jenna Riot, davO, Boyfriend and Rapidfire support New York headliners Cakes Da Killa and JunglePussy.

Sets lean toward queer hip-hop and offshoots, from trap to Bmore to club jams. Expect fierce dressers, a free photo booth and San Francisco-based Party Nails doing nails.

“People are trendsetters — really fashion-forward and really reflective of what’s cool while staying true to themselves,” Perloff says. “Lots of platform heels. Glitter. Daisy Dukes. It’s a space for people to be themselves. You will find people really getting down. There will be asses in the air — people twerking and climbing the walls.”
