Honest crook tells San Francisco police his name before fleeing

A man driving a stolen car apparently guzzled truth serum prior to being pulled over in the Silver Terrace neighborhood Tuesday.

Though he stepped on the gas and successfully fled cops in the vehicle, the suspect gave the officers his real name and date of birth, according to police at Bayview Station.

Now the driver has a warrant for his arrest.

The man was pulled over just before 1 p.m. in the area of Silver and Revere avenues. The driver told cops he didn’t have his license with him, but he told them who he was.

While cops returned to their patrol car to verify his identity, the suspect took off in the car. At the same time, police received word from dispatch that the car had been stolen.

Cops didn’t pursue, citing a potential danger to the public.

The stolen car was located Wednesday morning in Portola, police said. It was fingerprinted and towed. As of Wednesday, police were still hunting the thief.
