HBO’s ‘True Blood’ scores dynamic duo of Neko Case, Nick Cave for soundtrack

Already in the crimson mood for the upcoming fourth season of HBO’s creepy “True Blood”? If not, here’s some news that should take you there.

Music has always been essential to the show’s Bon Temps location. And the latest installment is something altogether unexpected, indeed — an ethereal update of the old Zombies hit “She’s Not There,” by Washington-bred torch/country twangsmith Neko Case and Australian Gothic-blues spookster Nick Cave. The track will be released digitally June 26, after this season’s premiere episode.

“She’s Not There” will be featured on “True Blood — Music From The Original Series, Volume 3,” due in stores this autumn. Both previous volumes have been nominated for Grammys. The show’s music supervisor Gary Calamar was over the lycanthropic moon to have landed the pair in one fell swoop.

He called Cave and Case “two of my favorite artists whose music is a perfect fit with the atmospheric and soulful Louisiana settings of ‘True Blood.’ This is a fantastic way to musically kick off the new season.” More tracks will be listed over the summer.
