A dirty, lowdown crook bit into a 61-year-old woman’s hand while stealing her laundry coins in Lower Nob Hill early Monday, police said.

About 6:30 a.m., police said, the victim was approached by two people while in an apartment building laundry room in the 1000 block of Bush Street, between Jones and Leavenworth streets.

After she asked if they lived in the building, the pair began yelling at the victim. The victim went to the manager’s apartment to report the thieves, police said, but was followed and attacked.

One of the suspects, described only as being in her 40s, then sprayed the victim with something that was possibly Mace, bit her hand and punched her in the face before fleeing with her coin purse.

The victim was not seriously injured, police said, and no arrests were reported Tuesday.
