The Giants were working Thursday to sell the rights to Brett Pill’s contract to a South Korean professional team, the Kia Tigers, Comcast SportsNet Bay Area reported.

Pill is still working to finalize a salary with the Korean club so the deal is not official, according to the report.

If the deal falls through, Pill could look elsewhere in Korea or Japan.

The Giants need to open up a spot on the 40-man roster with the signing of Michael Morse, who, like Pill, plays outfield and first base.

The 29-year-old Pill has never been able to find a consistent role with the Giants. Pill has a .233 career average in 240 at-bats over three seasons.
