A man bit a woman’s hand so hard for trying to break up an argument among a group she did not know Tuesday night that she went to the hospital and then her wallet was stolen, too.
The woman, who was reportedly in her 30s, was walking along the Embarcadero near Market Street around 11 p.m. when she saw a man in his 20s arguing with two women and tried to tell him to leave the women alone, said Officer Albie Esparza.
“All of a sudden the suspect turned on the victim, biting the victim on the hand and in the process her wallet fell out,’’ Esparza said. “The suspect took the wallet, and after that she ran away screaming in pain and the other three fled together.’’
The woman was taken to a local hospital, and the extent of her injury had not been determined.
Esparza said the only description of the man who got away with her wallet was that he was a white male about 5 feet 9 inches and about 180 pounds in his mid-20s wearing a red jacket or sweatshirt.
He did not have any information about the women or what the argument was about.
“She was just trying to do the right thing,’’ Esparza said.
