Gascon and Hayes-White honored this week

Did you know that in an average week in San Francisco, “about 25 people die from suicides, accidents, sudden infant death and other tragic causes?”

That’s according to S.F. Crisis Care, a group of volunteers that provides immediate support and counseling that police and fire officials oftentimes can't in the wake of a tragedy.

This week, the organization is honoring fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White and police Chief George Gascon with the “Ray of Hope Perpetual Award.”

Check out the Ray of Hope Gala Reception 2010 at the Hamilton Center on Thursday at 6 p.m. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit to counsel the victims of unexpected sudden tragedies in San Francisco.
