So what does the future of the “Fast & Furious” franchise look like? Filmmakers were in the middle of shooting the seventh incarnation of the series when star Paul Walker died in a fiery car crash Saturday, and they were reportedly just days away from filming some critical scenes, TMZ reports.

Production has of course been halted, but will it resume? Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that Universal has been figuring out how to proceed, but that most of the principal footage has already been shot and the movie most likely “will not be abandoned entirely.” Whether they will work with what they already have or simply start the whole thing over from scratch remains to be seen.
