Free food for firefighters, cops

San Francisco firefighters and police officers get a treat on Christmas: a free meal and beverage at Lefty O’Doul’s.

The Union Square restaurant is holding the last toy drive of the year for the Local 798 San Francisco Firefighters Toy Program this week. The barrels will be out for breakfast at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday to last call at 2:00 a.m. on Christmas Day.

With holiday donations down as the economy suffers, Lefty O'Doul's is hoping it can pull in about 8,000 toys, the number of toys donated last year.

In addition, The City’s public safety workers can cash in on a supper, according to a press release.
