Fire Commission could vote on water transfer

The Fire Commission could vote to approve the turnover of the Auxiliary Water Supply System on Thursday, a move meant to save the Fire Department money but one that has also spawned a bit of a power struggle.

The Commission is expected to discuss the contract, which would outline the transfer of the 96-year-old water system, which has been plagued with maintenance issues and could be the subject of a future bond initiative.
