FBI arrests people suspected of being Anonymous hackers

WHAT: At least 14 alleged hackers connected to the notorious Anonymous cyberspace prankster collective were
arrested by the FBI in New York, San Francisco, Florida and New Jersey on Tuesday.

WHY: The loosely organized Anonymous group protests alleged government and corporate misdeeds by sabotaging their websites. Targets have included Visa, MasterCard, PayPal, Arizona state police, Sony, Egypt, Turkey and Tunisia.

HOW: Anonymous temporarily cripples websites with denial-of-service attacks. Supporters are enlisted to overwhelm a website with a flood of service requests. Many arrests have been made internationally, but it’s not known if officials captured the true ringleaders.
