Fantasia Barrino is “doing fine” in the hospital after overdosing on aspirin and sleep medication, her father told Radar Online. But while her condition was not life-threatening, her emotional wounds may need time to heal.
After news of her hospitalization broke in the wake of a North Carolina woman’s divorce petition naming her as the “other woman,” the “American Idol” champ’s manager explained her relationship with the married man in question, Antwaun Cook, saying they “dated on and off for about 11 months.”
“Fantasia believed Mr. Cook when he told her he was not happy in his marriage and his heart was not in it,” the manager said. “She believed him when he told her he and Mrs. Cook separated in the late summer of 2009. She believed Mr. Cook when he told her he lived elsewhere.
“She knows some of the allegations in Mrs. Cook’s complaint are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know.
“Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.”
It kind of sounds to us like her so-called boyfriend is the one who caused the pain.
Sightings of a brunette woman entering Jesse James’ West Coast Choppers bike shop gave rise to much speculation that he had received a visit from his ex-wife, Sandra Bullock, who was in the Los Angeles area to attend the Teen Choice Awards.
But, the speculation proved false, as the mystery woman, who was photographed from behind with Jesse on Monday, turned out not to be Sandy, and Jesse’s WCC crew told TMZ that they haven’t seen her around in ages.
Still, we can hardly blame the press for jumping to conclusions. There really aren’t that many brunettes in L.A.
In the past couple weeks, Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr have gone from being estranged exes to canoodling at a restaurant to having a red-hot hotel-room hookup. In fact, the on-again couple and “Gossip Girl” co-stars were having so much fun rekindling their romance last weekend that they allegedly holed up in their Chicago hotel room at Lollapalooza and blew off an event they were expected to attend, according to the New York Post.
“Jessica was invited and took Ed as her plus-one,” a source said. “They were flown first-class and given two rooms, and her talent wrangler, Aaron, agreed they would appear at night or at one of the day lounges.
“But they never showed up, and instead they hit the minibar and ordered room service. The bill for food and booze for three nights was over $830. Publicists were calling their room and banging on their door.
“Eventually, this blew up into a big argument on Sunday, when the event boss phoned Jessica and said he was canceling their flights. She said, ‘We don’t need to do this. We can pay our own way.’ They left that night, and Jessica paid for everything.”
Reps for both insisted their clients were unaware of the commitment. Hers claimed that Jessica “was never told until Sunday, and as a result she agreed to pay for everything herself and left. There was no fight.” His said, “Ed went as Jessica’s plus-one and had no idea about any agreement or photographs he had to take. He always honors any agreements.”
Self-centered celebrities or just a couple kids crazy in love? We’d like to think the latter. And hey, at least they footed the bill, which is probably more than most of young Hollywood would do.
