Familiar face robs San Carlos bank, police say

A man who robbed a San Carlos bank this week might be the same person who held up the bank in January, a San Mateo County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman said.

The Chase Bank at 845 Laurel St. in downtown San Carlos was robbed about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday by a white man in his 30s standing about 6 feet tall and wearing a baseball cap, dark sunglasses and a dark jacket, spokeswoman Rebecca Rosenblatt said.

The man approached the teller with a demand note and stated that he had a gun, Rosenblatt said. He left through the front door onto Laurel Street.

The suspect matches the description of a man who robbed the same bank Jan. 5, according to Rosenblatt. Investigators are examining surveillance video from both robberies in an effort to identify the suspect.
