Employee clobbered by change-hungry crooks

An employee at a Western Addition restaurant was viciously beaten late Sunday after battling a half-dozen punks who tried to steal a tip jar, police said. The 23-year-old man was reportedly hospitalized following the brawl with six young teens.

About 11 p.m., police said, one of six suspects who mobbed into the eatery in the 1500 block of Fillmore Street tried to swipe the tip jar. When the employee attempted to intervene, the kid’s pals kicked and punched him and swiped his phone, police said.

The worker’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said, and no arrests had been made as of Monday.
