DUI suspected in Colma crash

A three-car crash in Colma that sent four adults to the hospital with major injuries Tuesday morning appears to have been spurred by drunken driving, police said.

The crash involving a Ford truck, a Mercedes and a Mazda was reported about 8:45 a.m. on El Camino Real near Mission Road, Colma Detective Sgt. Jason Wollman said.

The driver -- and only occupant -- of the Mercedes was hospitalized with major injuries and is suspected of DUI, although an arrest is pending toxicology results.

The driver and two passengers in the Mazda were also hospitalized with major injuries.

The truck driver, and only person in that vehicle, was not injured.
