For the hundreds of drunk drivers out there who got caught doing it: brush up on those court orders, because police this month are targeting the offenders who got away.
It’s the start of the Police Department’s annual DUI winter crackdown Friday and they announced they’re also on the prowl for the ones who failed to comply with the judge’s orders, i.e., traffic school, community service, etc.
Their announcement warned in red capital letters that “DUI WARRANT OPERATIONS INCREASE IN DECEMBER….’’
and politely added, "POLICE OFFER HELP IN CLEARING WARRANTS,” with reminders on how it’s nicer to fess up before they find you, risking arrest and yet another car impound.
According to police, Officer Bob Garcia will hook you up.
“Just call (415) 553-7944 and leave a message. I’ll research the warrant and call you to walk you through the process,” Garcia said.
Or if you’re better at trying your luck, the winter crackdown ends Jan. 2, but skipping out on court orders will still be equally criminal.
